She writes : In studying the text we had already gained a great knowledge of the background and main themes but to have actually seen the play as a production changed my view towards the play completely. There was a lot more emphasis on the main themes; religion, hysteria, power and also sexual motive. We were given an insight into a theocracy and saw a working example of the Puritan way of life.
