'Me' & 'You'

Two more poems from the Senior Poetry Prize ... this is a pair written by Carl-Victor Wachs (the layout is deliberate):-

Me, by Victor Wachs

I stand here
Waiting for it all
I stand, I step, I stay
Wondering if I may
feel tall

I came here
Waiting for it all
I crouched, I climbed, I came
Just to assure my fame
Not to feel small

I am here
Having seen it all
I wish I was. I would
Stand, come, be, if I could
before I fall

You, by Victor Wachs

You shine
Even across the line
That separates your life and mine
make me be thine
Feel fine
Divine
Unable to define
How you could not be mine
